historical notes James Renwick was an art collector, architect, married Anna lloyd Aspinwall in 1852, and was the son-in-law of William Henry Aspinwall (1807-1875).

Renwick's collection included canvases attributed to Rubens, Murillo, Titian, Vandyck, Velasquez, Ruysdaal,Titian, Tiepolo, Correggio, Canaletto, Feretti, Rubens, Snyder, Titian and Poussin.

Renwick was a member of the New York and Larchmont Yacht Clubs.
