historical notes William Paulet Carey was an Irish writer, art collector, painter, engraver and art dealer who lived in Philadelphia ca. 1836-38.

Part of Carey's collection was sold May 293, 1938 via Philadelphia auction house, M. Thomas & Son. His collection included paintings, drawings and prints from the Italian, French, Dutch, Flemish and Spanish Schools.
