Italian by birth, Charles Lockhart was an art collector and oil man (The Brilliant Oil Refinery, Lockhart, Frew & Co. and Standard Oil Trust -1874).
Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier’s painting Jena and family portraits by Theobald Chartran were among other works of art owned by Lockhart.
