historical notes Sir Hugh Percy Lane was an art collector, dealer who established Dublin's Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, now known as Dublin City Gallery The High Lane, in 1908.

Lane collected work by impressionist and his collection included, among otheres, La Musique aux Tuileries by Manet, Sur la Plage by Degas, Les Parapluies by Renoir and La Cheminée by Vuillard.

Lane died on board the RMS Lusitania after it was torpedoed by a German submarine, May 7, 1915.
