historical notes Dr. Henry Abbott built a built a collection of Egyptian antiquities which are now at the Brooklyn Museum. Abbott’s collection was purchased and deposited at the New–York Historical Society and eventually transferred to the Brooklyn Museum in 1937.

Abbott was a brother-in-law of Stewart Brown of Brown Brothers & Co. and the proprietor of the Egyptian museum at 659 Broadway which opened in New York, 1855.
