Ward’s collection included work by J J Gérome, Murphy, Medag, Thaulow, Ridgeway Knight, Rosa Bonheur, Detaile, vibert, Charles Meissoner, Dieterle, Berne-Bellecour, Ziem, Clays, Rico, Madrazo, Bouguereau, Alfred Stevens, Groenewegen, McIihenney, Wright, and Barker.

Ward's 1911, American Association auction included work by Barbizon painters Daubigny, Dupre, Diaz, Troyon, van Marcke, and Bonheur.

Ward was the first Vice President of Prudential Life Insurance Co. (1884-1910), the Director of the Fidelity Trust Company, the Union National Bank of Newark, the National Surety Company of New York, the Public Service Corporation of New Jersey, and the American Steel and Wire Company.

Ward belonged to the Union League, the Lawyers', the Essex Clubs.
