historical notes Eleanor "Lallie" Biddle Lloyd was an art collector, supporter of 1930's Contemporary art, served on the first board of the Washington Gallery of Modern Art (1950) and Chairman of the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lloyd was a trustee of the Museum of Art, the College of Art in Philadelphia, the American Federation of the Arts, and of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Lloyd was a 1960 UNESCO delegate at the Paris conference, organized a committee to preserve Egyptian art, and was a regional vice chairman of Partnership in the Arts.

Lloyd collected art (paintings and sculptures) by, among others, Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee, Jaun Miro, Constantin Brancusi, Jackson Pollock , Alexander Calder, Willem de Kooning, Arshile Gorky, Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Mark Rothko, David Smith, Tony Caro, Louise Nevelson, Jean Dubuffet, Sam Francis, Morris Louis, Ken Noland, Attilio Salemme, Jack Tworkov, Robert Irwin, Agnes Martin and David Novros.
