Porter was a fellow of the Medieval Academy of America, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Royal Irish Society of Antiquaries, and a member of the Archaeological Institute of America. Porter is known for his 10-volume work “Sculpture of the Pilgrimage Roads.” Nine of these volumes are made up of photographs of medieval architecture and sculpture taken during his travels. These 1,500 images, along with some 33,000 others taken by Porter, now comprise the Arthur Kingsley Porter Collection in the Special Collections of Harvard's Fine Arts Library.
