Silo's Fifth Avenue Art Galleries, known as Silo’s in the industry, was founded as Silo Art Galleries in 1879 by James P. Silo (1848–1922), and was located at 43 Liberty Street in Downtown Manhattan.
The gallery/auction house moved northward and had locations on 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, then Fifth Ave and 45th Street, and its final location at Vanderbilt Avenue and 45th Street.
The gallery disbursed items from Fifth Avenue’s Sherry's, Delmonico’s, The Belmont, and the Manhattan Hotel as well as individual estates from Gould, Vanderbilt, and Thorne families.
