Laura Bayer Sala, nee Laura Bache Kayser, was an art collector and daughter of silk glove and hosiery manufacturer Julius Kayser, founder of Julius Kayser and Co.

Her mother, nee Henrietta Bache, was also a collector (French decorative arts) and her uncle, Jules S. Bache (1861-1944), was a financier and art collector. Laura Bache Kayser married Edwin Stanton Bayer (1870–1929) in 1895; in 1933, she married the art dealer and former French diplomat Count Antoine de Sala (1876–1946).

Dr. Walter Heil published an essay on French art from the Bayer collection in Pantheon in 1928. In addition, there were two sales solely featuring works of art from Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Bayer's art collection:
