Col. J Stricker Jenkins was a collector, coffee importer and early client of George Lucas.
According to The New York Times (5/4/1876),the Jenkins' collection sold at auction in the Clinton Hall Salesrooms, 1876 (fetching $60,025.00).
The collection included work by Bourguereau, Couturier, Caile, Bachereau, Billotte, G Armfield, James Hart, Boughton, Hy Jutsum, Bosch, Kensett, Baumgarner, D Col, S R Gifford, Weisz, Grandchamp, Piassau, W T Richards, Jordan, Huntington, Schreyer, Chavet, G Baker, Brillouin, Peralia, Girard, Perault, Vibert, Pecrus, Piasson Baugnict, F E Church, J C Meissonier, Félix Zeim, Gunther and others.
