Heimann left his native Russia in 1921 and eventually settled, in 1936, in Milan where he established himself as an art dealer focusing on Old Masters. In 1939 he came to the United States and with his nephew, Lasar Kipnis, dealt under his own name and also under the name Penold Masters, Ltd.
