Harris Charles Fahnestock was a collector and banker of NYC. He was born Feb. 27, 1835 and died in Harrisburg, PA, d. June 4, 1914. Fahnstock was head of N.Y. office of Jay Cooke & Co. until 1873, and vice president of First National Bank of N.Y.
According to The Art Treasures of America, Fahnestock owned a painting by Emile Levy.
