The Bykert Gallery was a contemporary a New York City art gallery active between 1966 and 1975. The gallery was established by Klaus Kertess and Jeff Byers who had been college classmates (1958, Yale College).
First located at 15 West 57th Street in Manhattan, former Green Gallery which closed in 1965, it moved to East 81st Street (between Madison and Fifth Avenues).
The Bykert Gallery represented artists, such as, Brice Marden, Chuck Close, Ralph Humphrey, David Novros and Dorothea Rockburne. It held both solo and group show exhibiting work by, among others, Bill Bollinger, Robert Duran, Richard Van Buren, Alan Saret, Michael Goldberg, Ronnie Landfield, Gary Stephan, Deborah Remington, Bob Neuwirth, Paul Mogensen, Judy Rifka, Barry Le Va, Thornton Willis, and Joe Zucker.
At different times, both artist Lynda Benglis (1960s) and the art dealer Mary Boone (1970s) worked at Bykert as a secretary before launching each of their successful careers.
