Dorothy Braude Edinburg is a second generation art collector who has promised a fair amount of her collection to the Art Institute of Chicago.
The bequest, named in honor of her parents, is the Harry B. and Bessie K. Braude Memorial Collection and consists of approximately 800 works on paper, with about 150 ceramic and stoneware objects from China and Korea. The bulk of the works on paper are American and European prints and drawings, however, there are Japanese-printed books too.
The Harry B. and Bessie K. Braude Memorial Collection includes work by, among others, Federico Zuccaro, Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Gustave Courbet, Fernand Léger, Edgar Degas, John Constable, Claude Monet, Jean-Antoine Watteau, James McNeill Whistler, Juan Gris, Kurt Schwitters, Joan Miró, Vasily Kandinsky, François Boucher, Paul KIee, Piet Mondrian, Camille Pissarro, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, and Amadeo Modigliani, Thomas Gainsborough, William Hogarth, J. M. W. Turner and Georges Braque.
