Harold James Lean Wright was an art historian, collector, dealer (Colnaghi & Co.), and philanthropist.
From the 1950's Wright began donating both Old Master prints and books focusing on the history of print making to the Baillieu Library in Melbourne, Australia– the gifts ultimately totaled about 3,700 prints and 15,000 books. The donated prints included work by, among others, Rembrandt van Rijn, Albrecht Dürer, the van de Velde family and Jacques Callot. With the proceeds from Wrights personal collection his widow, Isobel Holmes, established the Harold Wright Scholarship for graduates of Australian and New Zealand universities to study first-hand the great print collections of the British Museum.
