historical notes Emilie Busbey Grigsby, aka Emily Grigsby, was the ward/mistress of art collector Charles T. Yerkes (1837 –1905).

Grigsby herself was a collector and in addition to having an extensive collection of jewelry and rare books, she collected paintings (Corot, Pissarro, Herter, and Monet among others), Chinese jades, Turkish embroideries, Flemish tapestries, ivory carvings, silver, and other decorative arts.
Grigsby’s collection of books and decorative arts were sold at an auction via the American Art Association in 1912.

At the same time she sold her apartment at 660 Park Avenue and moved abroad and lived at 80 Brook Street, London.
