The Auction house was owned and operated by Milton E. Freshman (1904–1976), Marion Rosin Freshman (1909–2004), and their son Samuel Robert Freshman (1930–1972).

The auction house and gallery held sales for private estates. Trosby filed for bankruptcy in 1981, at the time they filed their main offices were in Atlanta, GA.
