Dr. Gerardus Hilles Wynkoop formed a collection of Modern paintings which were sold at an auction via the Fifth-Avenue Art Galleries on March 13, 1890.
The collection included work by, among others, Charles Brague, E. Van Marcke, J. B. C. Corot, Ad. Schreyer, J. J. Henner, Michel Georges, Alberto Pasini, Pierre Ontin, C. F. Daubigny, Maurice Leloir, Anton Mauve, L. Knaus, N. Diaz, Martin Diego Rico, J. C. Cazin, George Innes, and F. F. G. P. Ziem.
Wynkoop graduated from Yale University in 1864 and in 1866, married Ann Eliza Woodbury (d. 1896).
