historical notes Lillie Jean Lawlor was a singer, real estate speculator, and art collector.

Lawlor formed a collection of 18th and 19th Century Drawings. Her collection included drawings by Puvis de Chavannes, Meissonier, Lefebvre, Fromentin, Cabanel, Munkacsy, Charlet, Jacque, Corot, Raffet, Whatteau, Boucher, Goya, Millet, Daubigny, Ingres, Boulanger, Jules Breton, Greuze, Coussin, Rosa Bonheur and Emile Levy.

Among the venues where works of art from her collection were shown in New York City include The School of Applied Design for Women (Lexington and 30th Street, 1913), Carnegie Institute (1916), and Knoedler & Co (1918).
