Lamar T. Wilson is the CEO of lamART Professional Art Services and also president of Lamar Wilson Food and Water Services, an alkaline water provider in the Nashville area. He grew up in Nashville, TN, and Wheaton, MD, before starting college at Bowie State College in Bowie, MD.
In 1989, he moved to Georgia to open Fine Arts of Atlanta, which became the most successful African-American art store in the country. After the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Lamar went to work as a curator and gallery director at Morris Brown College, where he co-founded the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. After moving back to the DC area, Lamar became the curator for Maryland at the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis, MD. There, he produced a wide variety of exhibitions. He also developed the traveling exhibit “Trails, Tracks, & Tarmacs: Lives and Legacies of Northern Anne Arundel County.” He returned to Nashville in 2010, and has been busy exhibiting his Thompson-Wilson Collection of art, as well as serving as an artist consultant to help local artists develop their careers. |
