historical notes Avisca Fine Art is a gallery specializing in contemporary African-American art and the art of the African diaspora. Founded by the Savacou Gallery collaborators Carol Ann Crawford and Gail M. Braham, Avisca Fine Art was initially established as an online marketplace in 1998 before expanding to a brick-and-mortar gallery in Marietta, GA.

Braham defines Avisca’s audience as new buyers who are willing to take a chance on emerging artists rather than “master” Black artists such as Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence or hot contemporary artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Kara Walker, and iona rozeal brown. To that end, Avisca Fine Arts has represented artists such as Ann Tanksley, Franks Deceus, April Harrison, Freddie Styles, Charly Palmer, Tamara Madden, Lynn Marshall Linnemeier, Eleanor Neal, Karen Powell, Rory Golden, Henry Porter, and Ruby Franklin.
