historical notes With his wife, Mary J. Gruskin (1901-2002), Alan Daniel Gruskin owned the Midtown Galleries (founded in 1932) in New York City. They represented realist and abstract artists, including, among others, Paul Cadmus, Waldo Peirce, and Isabel Bishop. Clients included Robert Sarnoff, founder of the National Broadcasting Co., television personality Garry Moore, and the James Michener Foundation.
