The main focus of the gallery is modernist movements of the first half of the 20th Century, notably German Expressionism and the Russian Avant-Garde.
Among the artists identified with with the gallery are Kandinsky, Jawlensky, Klee, Pechstein, Nolde, Munter, Feninger, Schmidt-Rottloff, Kolbe, Marcks, Malevich, Popova, Larionov, Gontcharova, Exter Chashnik and Suetin.
Leonard Hutton Galleries changed its name in 1969 to Hutton-Hutschnecker Gallery.
In 1971 the name Leonard Hutton Galleries was resumed.
