Elaine collected Contemporary art with her husband, Werner Dannheisser (1909-1992).
The Dannheisser collection included, among other things, works by Picasso, Leger, Rouault, Dubuffet, Rothko, Rauschenberg, Agnes Martin, Robert Gober, Koons Gonzalez-Torres, Bruce Nauman, Sigmar Polke, Richard Serra, Cindy Sherman, Thomas Struth and Joseph Beuys.
Elaine gave most of their collection to Museum of Modern Art.
