Dr. Walter O. Evans is an art collector and surgeon who collects Black American art, rare books, and historical documents pertaining to the African American experience.
His art collection includes work by Romare Bearden, Robert Scott Duncanson, Richard Hunt, Mary Edmonia Lewis, Marion Perkins, James Weldon Johnson, Jacob Lawrence, Horace Pippin, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Elizabeth Catlett, Edward Mitchell Bannister, Dox Thrash, Charles Wilbert White, Charles White, Archibald Motley, Alma Thomas, and Aaron Douglas.
Evans serves on the board of directors of the Jacob Lawrence Catalogue Raisonnés Project. |
