Art collector, banker, philanthropist, race horse breeder, Chairman of the Board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1967), Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of art.
Included in Lehman's collection were works of art by Goya, El Greco, Cézanne, Rembrandt, Renoir, Monet, Botticelli, Dürer, van Gogh, Bellini, Matisse, and Picasso, among others.
Robert Lehman left his collection to the Robert Lehman Foundation and it is now housed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
