Capitalist, art collector, honorary president of the Art Institute of Art and financed various archaeological expeditions.
He established F. G. Logan & Company (a businesses in securities and grain) and was a founder of the Logan Museum. After Logan retired in 1901, he and his wife Josephine Hancock became full-time philanthropists, supporting the Chicago Art Institute, Chicago Civic Opera, and Beloit College.
Logan lent work to the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, 1909, a Rembrandt van Rijn, Portrait of Himself, now in unknown location. Chicago Art Institute exhibition catalog "Paintings from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Logan": [August, 1910]
