According to the Neiman Marcus Group website, Stanley Marcus, was an avid collector with eclectic taste he acquired fine art from around the world. Marcus and his wife Linda, an anthropologist, sold their collection of Southwestern art in 1998 via Sotheby's, NY.

In addition to being a private collector, Marcus was the founder of the Neiman Marcus Art Collection (1951).
