descriptionAlbums documenting the collection of Gothic art objects formed by Henry Corbin Lawrence (1859-1919), a governor of the New York Stock Exchange, and his wife Lucy Ryerson Lawrence (1861-1920) of New York City, and its sale at auction in 1921.

The first volume includes mounted photographs illustrating the individual objects, their location in situ at the collectors' New York town house (166 West 88th Street), and individual portraits of H.C. and L.R. Lawrence. It also contains newspaper clippings and other ephemera announcing and describing the sale of the collection, as well as H.C. Lawrence's obituary published in The New York Times. The second volume comprises a disbound and mounted copy, priced, of the illustrated catalog of the sale, which was held at the American Art Galleries, Madison Square South, New York, Jan. 27-29, 1921, under the management of the American Art Association.
