Files on artists represented in the Vogel collection include Carl Andre, Stephen Antonakos, Alice Aycock, Will Barnet, Andre Cadere, Christo, Claudia DeMonte, Richard Francisco, Dan Graham, Jan Groth, Sol Lewitt, Sylvia and Robert Mangold, Lucio Pozzi, Edda Renouf, and Richard Tuttle.

ADDITION: Exhibition catalogs; clippings about group shows, the New York art world, and artists; business records; artist files; subject files, and correspondence documenting exhibitions of the Vogel collection.

Letters to Meisel are from Robert Cottingham, Duane Hanson, Jamie Wyeth, Mel Ramos, Larry Rivers, Richard Estes, Ernest Ruckle, Gahan Wilson, Theodoros Stamos, Don Eddy, Chuck Close, Audrey Flack, Robert Bechtle, John Baeder, Ralph Goings, Tom Blackwell, Anwar Sadat, Ron Kleeman, David Parrish, Robert Hughes, Thomas Messer and Joan Mondale (Mrs. Walter).

Also included are illustrated letters from Frances Bull Morley, Mel Shestack and Nebraska Gifford. Writings include a draft of "The World Needs Art, Therefore the World Needs Art Dealers" by Meisel. A subject file includes writings about Gregory Battcock. Photographs are of John Baldessari with Herbert and Dorothy Vogel; Andy Warhol and Elizabeth Taylor. Printed material includes announcements from the gallery.

This four part compilation contains interviews with six of the most important art collectors in the 1970s. Part one features collector James Clark interviewed by curator Paul Schimmel; part two contains an interview with middle class Manhattan couple Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, collectors of avant-garde art, conducted by art critic Douglas Davis;

in part three author Peggy Gale interviews international contemporary art collector Roger Davidson; part four is an interview with Drs. Milton Brutten and Helen Herrick conducted by artist and professor Hermine Freed.
