descriptionPhotographs of McCormick, his wife Constance Plummer McCormick, their children, and the family mausoleum in Florida. Also some photographs of Constance as a young girl and her family. Albums include formal portraits and snapshots of McCormick family members, views of England where they lived for many years, a few interiors of residences, postcards of England and France (1910-1920), and photos of Constance, Leander and some Alister in Cannes in 1926-1927. Most photos in these albums are unidentified. Of interest are cabinet card photos of McCormick's inventions and a group of portraits of McCormick labeled "Studies in Expression"--possibly related to his research in what he called "characterology."

description The majority of McCormick's collection of papers consists of drafts and versions of, as well as miscellaneous other related materials, related to his books regarding Characterology: An exact science embracing physiognomy, phrenology and pathognomy, reconstructed, amplified and amalgamated, and including views concerning memory and reason and the location of these faculties within the brain, likewise facial and cranial indications of longevity. Also in this collection of papers is some correspondence, numerous photographs and documentation of criminals, scrapbooks kept by Mr. McCormick, McCormick's notebooks for many years in the 1910s and 1920s, and his wife Constance's diaries for scattered years throughout their marriage; as well as other related materials and writings.

Letters, notebooks, etc. concerning McCormick's characterology studies, chiefly in relation to his book, Characterology, published by Rand McNally & Company in 1920.
