descriptionThe Barbedienne papers, a partial archive of Maison Collas-Barbedienne, were donated to the National Archives in 1962 by Mrs. Leblanc-Barbedienne, daughter-in-law of Gustave Leblanc, nephew of the firm’s founder. Though incomplete, with only eight boxes, they shed light on Ferdinand Barbedienne's work and the firm's history.

The first box includes details about Barbedienne, his collaborator Achille Collas, and 92 artists’ letters, remnants of pre-1870 client files. The second box briefly covers the firm’s operations from 1875 to 1938. Boxes 3 and 4 contain contracts with sculptors like Rude and Landowski, though some key figures are missing.

The final four boxes, containing accounting records from 1912 to 1955, provide valuable insights into the history of art and wealth of the early 20th century.
