REELS 4405-4407: Letters from artists, dealers, friends and colleagues, including Joseph DeCamp, Lilian Westcott Hale, Dodge Macknight, and George Dudley Seymour; files, containing letters from John Singer Sargent (12), and Frank Benson and one concerning an exhibition at the Kilgore Galleries (1924); sketchbooks (21 vols.), including a "Salmagundi Souvenir Book" with sketches by Blaney and others, and printed materials; selected pages of an illustrated botany notebook (1881-1882), a journal of observations on nature (1884-1885), and a notebook of poems, quotations, small sketches, and addresses (1892); and a scrapbook, 1911, containing snapshots of Benson.

Also included are photographic prints from glass negatives of Blaney's work and of works by William Paxton and Sargent; photographs of Sargent, including one of him painting on the deck of Blaney's boat, ca. 1924; handwritten exhibition lists; exhibition catalogs and notices; BOSTON ARTISTS by S.C. de Soissons, 1894; constitution, by-laws, and list of members of the Boston Society of Water Color painters, 1892; and clippings.

UNMICROFILMED: Sketches; a scrapbook on John Singer Sargent; 3 photographs of John L. Breck and his studio; exhibition catalogs; art history notebooks; printed materials; a lithograph by J.S. Schweinfurth; and glass negatives.

Bio / His Notes:
Painter, architect; Boston, Mass. and Bar Harbor Me. Blaney family bought Ironbound Island in Bar Harbor, ca. 1893, where John Singer Sargent and other painters came to paint.
