descriptionCorrespondence, scrapbook, membership lists, three volumes of menus and signatures of attending members, and printed materials, 1898-1940, of the Round Table Dining Club of New York City.

Correspondence includes ca. 200 letters, 1898-1917, from members of the club to secretaries Charles H. Marshall, or George L. Rives, approving or objecting to person proposed for membership, submitting the names of prospective members, accepting membership, etc.

Prominent correspondents include: Charles Francis Adams, Nicholas Murray Butler, Woodrow Wilson, John Lambert Cadwalader, Stephen H. Olin, Henry James, John La Farge, and Manton Marble. Records of club dinners, 1911-1940, consist of the monthly menu and the signature of the members present. Scrapbook, 1899-1915, contains menus, lists of diners and members, printed notices of proposed newmembers, newspaper obituary notices announcing the deaths of former memebrs, etc.

Bio/History:
Dining club founded ca. 1868 in New York City; members met on a voluntary basis to dine together at monthly suppers.
