title | Edwin Atlee Barber Papers, 1885-1916
|
repository | Philadelphia Museum of Art |
description | The value of these papers is in their informational content - they are a fine research source regarding early American and other pottery. Also, the papers reveal the mindset of a turn-of-the-century scholar - not a representative scholar - but an interesting personality and a leader in his field. Also revealed is the process of scholarly writing and production. Valuable to researchers is Barber's collection of potters' marks.
