It includes correspondence, post cards, wedding invitations, greeting cards and birth announcements, travel brochures, watercolor sketches by Edith, copy of Whitehill-Hinkel genealogy, school papers of George, Jr. and Allen, appointment calendars, club membership cards,certificates of appreciation to Allen from Butler University and the United States Congress, newspaper clippings related to the Clowes family, theater playbills, family photographs and slides.

Biographical Note:
Dr. George Henry Alexander Clowes was responsible for the mass production of insulin at Eli Lilly & Company. He and his wife Edith Whitehill Hinkel Clowes were the parents of Alexander, George Henry Alexander, Jr., and Allen Whitehill Clowes. Dr. and Mrs. Clowes contributed to numerous philanthropic endeavors in Indianapolis.

They also served on boards of various organizations and, in 1952, they established the Clowes Fund for furthering educational, religious, charitable, and scientific pursuits. After their deaths, their sons, Goerge Jr. and Allen continued the philanthropic interests begun by their parents.
