Biog./Historical Note:
The Schoenberger family became a highly influential Pittsburgh family through the development of the iron industry.

Dr. Peter Schoenberger was a pioneer in the iron industry and established a number of furnaces throughout western Pennsylvania. His sons, John H. and George K., continued the business after his death. The members of the Schoenberger family were also noted philanthropists, helping establish St. Margaret Hospital.
