descriptionThe Bernardine Szold-Fritz Correspondence contains letters to Szold-Fritz from well-known cultural figures from the Twentieth century. There are letters from writers and publishers, artists and photographers, actors and filmmakers, musicians and performers, diplomats and public officials, and others. Correspondents include: Harold Acton, Joseph Cotton, George and Marius de Zayas, Lotte Errell, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Éva Gauthier, Rosamond Gilder, Peggy Guggenheim, John Huston, David Lilienthal, Alice Rahon, Eric Maria Remarque, Chard Powers Smith, Joseph von Sternberg, Szeming Sze, Pavel Tchelitchew, Carl Van Vechten, Beatrice Wanger (Nadja), Glenway Wescott, Rebecca West, and Monroe Wheeler. Correspondence dates from 1917 to 1973, and appears to be particularly rich for the period from the 1920s through 1940s. Some files contain enclosures such as photographs, clippings, and printed ephemera.
