acquisition information | The Robert B. Honeyman, Jr. Collection of Early Californian and Western American Pictorial Material was purchased by The Bancroft Library in 1963. It was funded by the UC Regents and private donations raised by The Friends of The Bancroft Library. Robert B. Honeyman Jr. assembled this collection largely with the help of his agent Warren Howell of John Howell Books in San Francisco. Many items were purchased abroad, chiefly in Britain, Germany, and Spain. The collection was previously housed in Mr. Honeyman's private museum at Rancho Los Cerritos near Mission San Juan Capistrano, California, and until now has never been exhibited in its entirety. |
