titleCharles Beloe letters, 1841-1851.
repositoryThe Getty Research Institute
descriptionLetters sent by Beloe from London, Stoke-on-Trent, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and other parts of Britain between 1849-1851, with one letter being dated 1841.

The letters appear to have been addressed to just one correspondent, a "Mr. J. Hogarth", Beloe’s employer at that time. The letters refer mainly to the exhibition, purchase and sale of contemporary British works of art, including paintings, engravings and busts, in London, the Potteries, the North-East of England, and Scotland. They include comments on organizing provincial art exhibitions, and occasional details on individual artists and works.
