Morris, in addition to collecting American art from fellow American Abstract Artists, collected work by Picasso, Braque, Léger and Gris.

Morris's art works are represented in such museums as the Metropolitan, Whitney, Yale and Corcoran Gallery Museums. He was married to the artist and opera singer, Suzy Frelinghuysen.
