historical notes Rutherfurd Stuyvesant, nee Alan Stuyvesant Rutherfurd, collected armor, china, paintings and was a trustee of Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Stuyvesant was the son of Lewis Morris Rutherfurd and it was only by the will of his mother's great uncle Peter Stuyvesant who left him property on condition that he changed his name to Rutherfurd Stuyvesant, which he did in 1863.
